John Wesley was born on 17 June 1703 ('old style'
calendar - or 28 June in the 'new style' calendar after 1752). His birthplace was Epworth
in Lincolnshire. He was a renowned preacher and spiritual leader of the 'Methodist revival'.

The occasion of the tercentenary of John Wesley's birth offers the Church the opportunity to
celebrate the life of one of the most influential personalities in its history.
